Prokaiwa was founded by David Scantee, an experienced English teacher with a passion for helping Japanese speakers gain confidence in English conversation. After years of teaching in traditional classroom settings, David recognized that many students struggled to apply their English knowledge in real-world situations.

The problem was clear: despite years of English education, many Japanese learners lacked practical conversation skills and confidence. Most existing services focused on grammar and vocabulary but didn't provide enough opportunities for authentic practice with personalized feedback.

This realization led to the creation of Prokaiwa in 2020, a service designed to provide daily conversation practice through LINE, Japan's most popular messaging app. By combining the convenience of mobile learning with personalized feedback from native speakers, Prokaiwa created a new approach to language learning that fits seamlessly into busy modern lives.
